Support Our Troops! Show Sweet Gratitude This Independence Day
Support our Troops Today!
CALLING ALL PATRIOTS – WITH LIBERTY & CHOCOLATES FOR ALL!
Matt just disembarked from the his best Father’s Day present ever – 36 hours spent aboard a Nimitz class aircraft carrier. He was nominated to participate in the Navy’s Distinguished Visitor(DV) program designed for civilians to observe carrier operations as part of the Navy’s efforts to inform the public on naval operations. Matt met up with the group at NAS North Island (on Coronado, CA) early on Father’s Day morning where they began their adventure with a briefing on the Distinguished Visitor’s program followed by a safety briefing and finally, boarding a COD, a C-2A turboprop, for the flight out to the carrier and a landing(trap) aboard. Matt then spent the day observing operations including spending time on the flight deck during take offs and landings! He dined in various mess halls and had an opportunity to speak with some of the most accomplished, impressive young men & women he has ever met. He then spent the night in a 2 person stateroom. On the second day there were additional briefings, more time spent observing carrier operations, and then he was launched off in the C-2A for the return trip to NASNI in the late afternoon.
Although I have not yet heard all of the details, I do know the adventure was just as awe-inspiring as it sounds. Matt’s respect for our troops (already high) is now off the charts and he wants us all to know how important it is for each and everyone of us to take the time and make the effort to show our appreciation for our military and support our troops.
Here is a great example of how a Southern California company is doing just that and actually making a real difference in the lives our military heroes. See’s Candies began their show of patriotism by creating a line of packaging special for the Fourth of July and other patriotic holidays.
Let sweetness ring with delicious See’s candies and chocolates made right here in America. Perfect for picnics, BBQs and Fourth of July celebrations, See’s yummy candy gifts and treats are perfect for every patriotic gathering. Choose from seasonal items available for a limited time, like their Sour Stars, Patriotic Box and Stars and Stripes Lollypops. Go on, enjoy a summer of yum!
See’s patriotic spirit, however, does not end with a little red, white & blue holiday packaging. Since 2006, See’s Candies has teamed up with Operation Gratitude and this year they are excited to help See’s fans offer their support, too! They have made it easy for you to show your sweet support to a service member with a personal letter delivered in an Operation Gratitude care package. Each year, Operation Gratitude volunteers assemble over 150,000 military care packages, and include notes of appreciation from caring citizens like you. These packages are given to service members, their families, veterans, wounded warriors and military care-givers.
Send a personal thank-you by completing the fields on See’s Support Our Troops page . See’s will print your notes and place them in Operation Gratitude care packages to brighten the day of a hero.
- Be upbeat and positive to bring sunshine to their day
- Thank them for their service and contributions
- Share a little about yourself: family, hobbies, pets
- Ask them questions: favorite movies, activities, family
- Keep topics neutral (avoid religion and politics)
Please make an effort to show your support and gratitude for the huge sacrifices our service men and women are making every single day to make all our lives safer and to ensure our national freedoms.
Dare to be Great!
